This Sunday, we will embark on a journey with Christ where we are called to embrace the transformative process of dying to self and rising with Him. Let us explore the beauty of this journey together this Sunday with our guest speaker Jon Hori. Philippians 2:5 serves as a powerful reminder to adopt the mindset of Christ as it says, "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus."

================This Week's Scripture:// Philippians 2:1–18 (NIV) //Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:Who, being in very nature God,    did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;rather, he made himself nothing    by taking the very nature of a servant,    being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man,    he humbled himself    by becoming obedient to death—        even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place    and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,    in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,    to the glory of God the Father.
Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.
Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain. But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.

Join us this Sunday as we delve into this profound paradox and discover the beauty of Jesus' nature. He is both the Lion of Judah—a symbol of strength, power, and kingship; and the Lamb of God—a symbol of gentleness, innocence, and sacrifice. Revelation 5:6 depicts the Lamb saying: "Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders"

================This Week's Scripture:// Revelation 5 (NIV) //Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals. And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?” But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”
Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people. And they sang a new song, saying:
“You are worthy to take the scroll    and to open its seals, because you were slain,    and with your blood you purchased for God    persons from every tribe and language and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God,    and they will reign on the earth.”
Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. In a loud voice they were saying:
“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,    to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength    and honor and glory and praise!”
Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying:
“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb    be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!”
The four living creatures said, “Amen,” and the elders fell down and worshiped.

This Sunday, we will continue exploring the significance of the throne at the centre of the universe. In Revelation 4:11, we see a glimpse of the heavenly realm, where praises resound before the majestic throne and the One seated on the throne is deserving of all glory, honour, and power. The verse reads, "You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being."

================This Week's Scripture:// Revelation 4 (NIV) //After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.” At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and ruby. A rainbow that shone like an emerald encircled the throne. Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads. From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. In front of the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits of God. Also in front of the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal.
In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back. The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle. Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying:
“‘Holy, holy, holyis the Lord God Almighty,’ who was, and is, and is to come.”
Whenever the living creatures give glory, honour and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:
“You are worthy, our Lord and God,to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were createdand have their being.”

This Sunday, we will look at the revelation of Jesus Christ and dive into understanding His divine presence while experiencing the transformative power of His love. In Revelation 1:17, we witness the breathtaking encounter between John and the risen Lord, who says to John: "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.” From this, we will learn how the revelation of Christ matters to our daily lives.

================This Week's Scripture:// Revelation 1 (NIV) //The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who testifies to everything he saw—that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.
John,To the seven churches in the province of Asia:Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne, and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.
To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.   "Look, he is coming with the clouds,"       and “every eye will see him,    even those who pierced him”;      and all peoples on earth "will mourn because of him."         So shall it be! Amen."I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty."
I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. On the Lord’s Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet, which said: “Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea.”
I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands, and among the lampstands was someone like a son of man, dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest. The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. In his right hand he held seven stars, and coming out of his mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.
When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.
“Write, therefore, what you have seen, what is now and what will take place later. The mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and of the seven golden lampstands is this: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.

As we weather Super Typhoon Saola, we hope you are all staying safe and stocked up for the coming storm. We hope to be able to see you on Sunday, but remember to consistently check weather warnings to better understand the impact of the storm in relation to your travel routes. Nonetheless, this Sunday, we hope to kick off a new series that brings us to embrace our divine purpose! ================This Week's Scripture:// 1 Timothy 6:17–19 (NIV) //Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.

To Be Known and Loved

Sunday Aug 20, 2023

Sunday Aug 20, 2023

As we navigate in a world that can often feel chaotic and impersonal, we find a deep longing within us to be truly known and unconditionally loved. We yearn for someone to see us and understand our hearts, and this Sunday, we learn the incredible truth: that our Heavenly Father knows us intimately and loves us completely. As Psalm 139:1 reminds us, "O Lord, you have searched me and known me."

================This Week's Scripture:// Psalm 139 (NIV) //For the director of music. Of David. A psalm.
You have searched me, Lord,    and you know me.You know when I sit and when I rise;    you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down;    you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue    you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before,    and you lay your hand upon me.Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,    too lofty for me to attain.
Where can I go from your Spirit?    Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there;    if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn,    if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me,    your right hand will hold me fast.If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me    and the light become night around me,”even the darkness will not be dark to you;    the night will shine like the day,    for darkness is as light to you.
For you created my inmost being;    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;    your works are wonderful,    I know that full well.My frame was not hidden from you    when I was made in the secret place,    when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.Your eyes saw my unformed body;    all the days ordained for me were written in your book    before one of them came to be.How precious to me are your thoughts,[a] God!    How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them,    they would outnumber the grains of sand—    when I awake, I am still with you.
If only you, God, would slay the wicked!    Away from me, you who are bloodthirsty! They speak of you with evil intent;    your adversaries misuse your name.Do I not hate those who hate you, Lord,    and abhor those who are in rebellion against you?I have nothing but hatred for them;    I count them my enemies.Search me, God, and know my heart;    test me and know my anxious thoughts.See if there is any offensive way in me,    and lead me in the way everlasting.

Freedom: Free to Die

Sunday Aug 13, 2023

Sunday Aug 13, 2023

This Sunday will see us conclude our journey through the book of Galatians. In the service, we will be learning that it is the Cross of Christ that grants us the ultimate freedom: dying to ourselves and living for Him. Because, in surrendering to the cross, we find liberation from the shackles of ambition, pride, and worldly desire; and through dying to our own will, we find true life in Christ's love and purpose. As Galatians 6:14 says, "But may I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.”

================This Week's Scripture:// Galatians 6:11-18 (NET) //Final Instructions and BenedictionSee what big letters I make as I write to you with my own hand!
Those who want to make a good showing in external matters are trying to force you to be circumcised. They do soonly to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ. For those who are circumcised do not obey the law themselves, but they want you to be circumcised so that they can boast about your flesh. But may I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. For neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything; the only thing that matters is a new creation! And all who will behave in accordance with this rule, peace and mercy be on them, and on the Israel of God.
From now on let no one cause me trouble, for I bear the marks of Jesus on my body.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers and sisters. Amen.

Freedom: Free to Care

Sunday Aug 06, 2023

Sunday Aug 06, 2023

This Sunday, we will be learning how, as followers of Christ, we are bestowed with a unique freedom to care, especially as we are called to love one another, bear each other's burdens, and do good to all. As we prepare our hearts for the service, let us reflect on the words of Galatians 5:25, "If we live by the Spirit, let us also behave in accordance with the Spirit.”

================This Week's Scripture:// Galatians 6:1-10 (NET) //Support One Another
Brothers and sisters, if a person is discovered in some sin, you who are spiritual restore such a person in a spirit of gentleness. Pay close attention to yourselves, so that you are not tempted too. Carry one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. Let each one examine his own work. Then he can take pride in himself and not compare himself with someone else. For each one will carry his own load.
Now the one who receives instruction in the word must share all good things with the one who teaches it. Do not be deceived. God will not be made a fool. For a person will reap what he sows, because the person who sows to his own flesh will reap corruption from the flesh but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit. So we must not grow weary in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who belong to the family of faith.

Freedom: True Freedom

Sunday Jul 30, 2023

Sunday Jul 30, 2023

This Sunday, we look forward to hearing from our guest speaker Pastor Esther Tung, who will be exploring what it means to have "True Freedom." Can one truly be free in any circumstance—even whilst imprisoned? Pastor Esther serves with Hong Kong Christian Kun Sun Association, a ministry that serves prisoners, rehabilitated persons and their families throughout Hong Kong. Let us prepare our hearts for the message by meditating on John 8:36, which proclaims "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."
