Sunday May 07, 2023

Sunday May 07, 2023

We are looking forward to kicking off our upcoming sermon series, “Freedom,” with you in this service! Join us as we kick off with the topic of “Free to Live” where we explore the key ideas from Galatians 1:1-5 as we walk through the Book of Galatians and discussing what it truly means to live a life of freedom in Christ. In preparation for this journey, let us reflect at the very beginning with Galations 1:1, which says, "Paul, an apostle—sent not from men nor by a man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead..."

In this week's Church Retreat-themed service, we will explore how God offers us refuge and safety in His unfailing love. Let us meditate on Psalm 91:2, which says, “I will say of the LORD, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’” as we continue to find shelter in God.

As we work to wrap out our series, "A Cruciform Life," we will conclude by looking at some of the questions that some of you have had after going through the series with us. As we prepare our hearts to receive from the service, let us be reminded of John 1:18, which says, "No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known."

Sunday Apr 09, 2023

This Easter Sunday, we carry on our "A Cruciform Life" series by seeing how knowing our resurrected King impacts the outlook and direction of our resurrected lives. Let us prepare for the anticipation of Easter Sunday by reflecting on John 11:25, where Jesus said to Mary, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die…”

================This Week's Scripture:// John 11:38-43 //So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me.”
When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!”

We continue our series, "A Cruciform Life", on this Palm Sunday and work towards better understanding how we can navigate this complex, interconnected world while keeping deep within us the knowledge that Jesus is King. In preparation for the message, let us meditate on Psalm 118:26, which says, "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. From the house of the Lord we bless you."

================This Week's Scripture:// Luke 19:30-34 //"Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. I f anyone asks you, W' hy are you untying it?' say, "The Lord needs it.* Those who were sent ahead went and found it just as he had told them. As they were untying the colt, its owners asked them, "Why are you untying the colt?" They replied, "The Lord needs it."

Continuing on our sermon series, "A Cruciform Life", we work towards looking at what a Cross-centered life looks in our work lives. To prepare our hearts for the message from the service, we can meditate on Ephesians 6:11, which says, "Clothe yourselves with the full armour of God so that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil."

================This Week's Scripture:// Colossians 1:15 //He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation, for all things in heaven and on earth were created by him—all things, whether visible or invisible, whether thrones or dominions, whether principalities or powers—all things were created through him and for him. He himself is before all things and all things are held together in him. He is the head of the body, the church, as well as the beginning, the firstborn from among the dead, so that he himself may become first in all things. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in the Son and through him to reconcile all things to himself by making peace through the blood of his cross—through him, whether things on earth or things in heaven.

Sunday Mar 19, 2023

We move forward in the series, "A Cruciform Life", by looking to reconcile the image of Christ on the Cross and the acts of violence in the Old Testament. As we continue to meditate on these topics, let us reflect on Luke 24:27, which says, "And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself."

================This Week's Scripture:// Luke 4:17-19 //...and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:“The Spirit of the Lord is on me,    because he has anointed me    to proclaim good news to the poor.He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners    and recovery of sight for the blind,to set the oppressed free,    to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

Sunday Mar 12, 2023

We continue in our series, "A Cruciform Life", by keeping our focus on the Cross and working to learn of the beautiful gospel that Christ left with us. As we ready our hearts and set our hearts to follow this Sunday, let us reflect on John 1:1, which says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

================This Week's Scripture:// John 1:14–18 //And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth. (John testified to him and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me ranks ahead of me because he was before me.’”) From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. The law indeed was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. It is the only Son, himself God, who is close to the Father’s heart, who has made him known.

Sunday Mar 05, 2023

As we looking deeper into living "A Cruciform Life", we will investigate those times when God may be misunderstood as an angry—even monstrous—God who commands eradication of peoples amongst other things. Yet, in this service, we will learn that perhaps things are not as they seem, especially as we take a moment to reflect on 1 John 4:8, “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." Let us work to better grasp these questions and begin to formulate our own responses in ways that mature us still further in our walk with our Lord.
