Refuge: Finding Refuge in God’s Unfailing Love

A Cruciform Life: Behold… the King!

We continue our series, "A Cruciform Life", on this Palm Sunday and work towards better understanding how we can navigate this complex, interconnected world while keeping deep within us the knowledge that Jesus is King. A Cruciform Life: The Cross & the Marketplace

Continuing on our sermon series, "A Cruciform Life", we work towards looking at what a Cross-centered life looks in our work lives. To prepare our hearts for the message from the service, we can meditate on Ephesians 6:11, which says, "Clothe yourselves with the full armour of God so that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil."

A Cruciform Life: Making Sense of Old Testament Violence

We move forward in the series, "A Cruciform Life", by looking to reconcile the image of Christ on the Cross and the acts of violence in the Old Testament.⁠ As we continue to meditate on these topics, let us reflect on Luke 24:27, which says, "And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself."

================This Week's Scripture:// John 1:14–18 //And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth. (John testified to him and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me ranks ahead of me because he was before me.’”) From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. The law indeed was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. It is the only Son, himself God, who is close to the Father’s heart, who has made him known.

A Cruciform Life: Is God a Monster?

As we looking deeper into living "A Cruciform Life", we will investigate those times when God may be misunderstood as an angry—even monstrous—God who commands eradication of peoples amongst other things. Yet, in this service, we will learn that perhaps things are not as they seem, especially as we take a moment to reflect on 1 John 4:8, “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love."⁠ Let us work to better grasp these questions and begin to formulate our own responses in ways that mature us still further in our walk with our Lord.
