As we look forward to the meeting on the first day of the Year of the Rabbit, we continue in our current series by looking at family, and how we might bring them into the fold. In preparing for the service, let us ready our hearts with 1 John 4:12, "No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us."

================This Week's Scripture:// Philippians 3:7-14 //But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Moving deeper into our series, "A Bigger Table," we look this week at what it means to be focused on the gospel in our lives. As we prepare our hearts for the service, let us take in the words of our Lord from Matthew 9:12b, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick."

================This Week's Scripture:// Matthew 9:9-13 //As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.
While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

On the second Sunday of the new year, we look to see the breadth of God's invitation for all to partake in his kingdom. As we seek to understand the invitation, let us meditate on Matthew 22:14 and what it encompasses: "For many are called, but few are chosen."

================This Week's Scripture:// Matthew 22:1-14 //
Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the banquet to tell them to come, but they refused to come.
“Then he sent some more servants and said, ‘Tell those who have been invited that I have prepared my dinner: My oxen and fattened cattle have been butchered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet.’
“But they paid no attention and went off—one to his field, another to his business. The rest seized his servants, mistreated them and killed them. The king was enraged. He sent his army and destroyed those murderers and burned their city.
“Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding banquet is ready, but those I invited did not deserve to come. So go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find.’ So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, the bad as well as the good, and the wedding hall was filled with guests.
“But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. He asked, ‘How did you get in here without wedding clothes, friend?’ The man was speechless.
“Then the king told the attendants, ‘Tie him hand and foot, and throw him outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
“For many are invited, but few are chosen.”

The Good Stuff: Christ

Monday Dec 26, 2022

Monday Dec 26, 2022

We will be having one service this Christmas Day and in it we will be reflecting on Christ, the foundation of our faith. As we conclude Advent, may we reflect on the heart of Christ as shared by Philippians 2:7: Rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

The Good Stuff: Love

Sunday Dec 18, 2022

Sunday Dec 18, 2022

We are one week away from Christmas itself, and with that, this week emphasises love in this Advent season. As we prepare to celebrate the coming of our Saviour, let us prepare our hearts for this week's service by reflecting on John 1:14, which teaches, "Now the Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We saw his glory—the glory of the one and only, full of grace and truth, who came from the Father."

================This Week's Scripture:// Hebrews 2:17-18 //Therefore he had to be made like his brothers and sisters in every respect, so that he could become a merciful and faithful high priest in things relating to God, to make atonement for the sins of the people. For since he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.

The Good Stuff: Peace

Sunday Dec 04, 2022

Sunday Dec 04, 2022

We enter the second week of Advent with a service on peace. As we continue in our series, The Good Stuff, Pastor Wade will look at how Christ is our Prince of Peace and how we can take this to heart as believers to find peace in troubled times. Let us reflect on the words of Colossians 3:15, for this week, which says, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful."

================This Week's Scripture:// Isaiah 9:6-7 //For to us a child is born, to us a son is given,    and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.

The Good Stuff: Hope

Sunday Nov 27, 2022

Sunday Nov 27, 2022

We begin the Advent season with a series called "The Good Stuff" and start by looking at hope. Pastor Wade walks us through what hope looks like for Christians, especially as we look forward to the coming of our Saviour. As we wait, may we set our hearts to Hebrews 11:1, which says, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see...”

================This Week's Scripture:// Hebrews 6:19-20 //We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.

Sunday Nov 20, 2022

In the last sermon of "The Jesus Way" series, Pastor Wade looks into perhaps one of the most difficult examples to follow from Jesus: to love our enemies. In preparing our hearts, let us reflect on Jesus's words in Matthew 5:44, when he teaches, “But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you...”

================This Week's Scripture:// Matthew 5:43-48 //“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbour and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect."

The Jesus Way: Truth-Telling

Sunday Nov 13, 2022

Sunday Nov 13, 2022

In the penultimate week of "The Jesus Way" series, Pastor Brenda teaches on how we are to speak truth, especially in times when it's difficult to do so. Indeed, Jesus himself demonstrates this in an extremely pressing time in John 18:37b, as he is confronted by Pilate, declaring, “For this reason I was born, and for this reason I came into the world—to testify to the truth.”

================This Week's Scripture:// John 16:7–11 //But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I am going away. For if I do not go away, the Advocate will not come to you, but if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will prove the world wrong concerning sin and righteousness and judgment–concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; concerning righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you will see me no longer; and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been condemned.
