The Good Stuff: Love

We are one week away from Christmas itself, and with that, this week emphasises love in this Advent season. As we prepare to celebrate the coming of our Saviour, let us prepare our hearts for this week's service by reflecting on John 1:14, which teaches, "Now the Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We saw his glory—the glory of the one and only, full of grace and truth, who came from the Father."

The Good Stuff: Peace

We enter the second week of Advent with a service on peace. As we continue in our series, The Good Stuff, Pastor Wade will look at how Christ is our Prince of Peace and how we can take this to heart as believers to find peace in troubled times. Let us reflect on the words of Colossians 3:15, for this week, which says, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful."

Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.

The Good Stuff: Hope

We begin the Advent season with a series called "The Good Stuff" and start by looking at hope. Pastor Wade walks us through what hope looks like for Christians, especially as we look forward to the coming of our Saviour. As we wait, may we set our hearts to Hebrews 11:1, which says, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see...”

The Jesus Way: Loving Your Enemies

In the last sermon of "The Jesus Way" series, Pastor Wade looks into perhaps one of the most difficult examples to follow from Jesus: to love our enemies. In preparing our hearts, let us reflect on Jesus's words in Matthew 5:44, when he teaches, “But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you...”

The Jesus Way: Truth-Telling

In the penultimate week of "The Jesus Way" series, Pastor Brenda teaches on how we are to speak truth, especially in times when it's difficult to do so. Indeed, Jesus himself demonstrates this in an extremely pressing time in John 18:37b, as he is confronted by Pilate, declaring, “For this reason I was born, and for this reason I came into the world—to testify to the truth.”

The Jesus Way: Dealing with Offence

In Week 6 of "The Jesus Way" series, Pastor Wade will speak on how we are to deal with offence, especially as Christians who are called more to unity than uniformity. In learning on how to deal with offence, we turn to Matthew 5:39b, which says, “If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.”

Week 5 of our "The Jesus Way" series sees Pastor Wade share on the true source of our power and where we can put our confidence. The Jesus Way: Ministering in the Margins

At the midway point of our "The Jesus Way" series, Pastor Wade will speak on how we minister in the margins of society. More, he will also look at how the margins minister to us and brings us closer to the heart of God. In preparation for this week's message, we will be meditating on John 8:11b (NIV), where Jesus says to the woman caught in adultery: “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

================This Week's Scripture:// John 8:1-11 //Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.
But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.
At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”
“No one, sir,” she said.
“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

The Jesus Way: Unity or Uniformity

In the third week of our "The Jesus Way" series, Pastor Wade will share about what bringing heaven to earth looks like by asking the question of whether the goal of the church is "unity" or "uniformity". In preparation for this week's message, let us reflect on Romans 14:10, which checks our hearts by asking: “You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat.”

================This Week's Scripture:// Romans 14:1-5 //Now receive the one who is weak in the faith, and do not have disputes over differing opinions. One person believes in eating everything, but the weak person eats only vegetables. The one who eats everything must not despise the one who does not, and the one who abstains must not judge the one who eats everything, for God has accepted him. Who are you to pass judgment on another’s servant? Before his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
One person regards one day holier than other days, and another regards them all alike. Each must be fully convinced in his own mind.

The Jesus Way: The Holy-Spirit Empowered Way

As we move into the second week of our "The Jesus Way" series, we will hear from Pastor Brenda about being filled by the Holy Spirit and what a life that is empowered by him looks like. As we look forward to seeing practical means to live and work alongside the Holy Spirit, let us reflect on and open our hearts to John 20:21–22, which recounts: “So Jesus said to them again, 'Peace be with you. Just as the Father has sent me, I also send you.' And after he said this, he breathed on them and said, 'Receive the Holy Spirit.'”
